American University of Antigua
Sponsored ContentAbout American University of Antigua:
AUA College of Medicine offers a quality 4-year MD program with a U.S.-modeled, hospital-integrated curriculum. AUA offers students the chance to study basic sciences at our main campus in Antigua (Caribbean) or in India at Kasturba Medical College International Center (KMCIC). KMCIC and AUA are allied with world-renowned Manipal University (recently ranked the number one private medical school -- number two out of all universities in India by the Times of India). Students from both programs then return to clinical rotations in the U.S. and subsequently to pass the USMLE and secure a residency.
Early Hospital Integration:
Beginning with their first semester, students are introduced to the clinical setting. AUA students begin their clinical experience during their Basic Sciences semesters by accompanying doctors on rounds at the local hospital either in Antigua or in Manipal. U.S. schools are now started to do this as well. Through American International College of Arts and Sciences â Antigua a six-year pre-med AS-to-MD track is available for qualified high school graduates and non-traditional students.
Approved for clinical clerkships and residency training by New York State:
Although little more than 5 years old, the AUA medical program is proud to be one of a few that has been approved by the State of New York, allowing students the opportunity to complete their clinical training and residencies at NY State-approved hospitals. This puts AUA in very distinct company as there are only handful medical schools in the Caribbean which have this approval. NY approval is also important because approximately 20% of residencies and teaching hospitals in the United States are located in NY State, and you cannot secure a residency spot in the state of New York without NYS approval.
Modern Campus and Facilities:
AUA has recently opened a modern Wi-Fi enabled, 17-acre campus, which includes 75,000 square feet of classroom and study space, cricket fields, tennis courts, a full gym, a multi-story library, and much more. All class sizes at AUA have a maximum of 120 students. Antigua and Manipal, India offer many of the amenities from home and housing is accessible to campus.
Residency Placements:
AUA graduates secured placement in residency programs across the U.S. and Canada at leading hospitals including The New York Hospital Medical Center, New York's Mt. Sinai Hospital, Boston's Tufts Medical Center, Detroit's Henry Ford Health Science Center, and The University of Toronto.
